Thank You and Bienvenue!

Bienvenue (welcome) to my blog and my experience abroad!  Firstly I would like to thank all of my family and friends for your support as I venture out into the world.  I wouldn't be where I am without you all, and I wouldn't be able to study abroad without your various forms of support.  I am deeply grateful to all of you and I promise to use what I learn and share what I have been given. Before I can leave the country and truly begin my experience, I still have to wrap up this semester at Wesleyan and make many last-minute preparations for my trip. I will be leaving Charlotte on January 7th, flying to New York's JFK airport and from there catching a flight to Paris with the other students on my program.  I hope you all have an enjoyable holiday season and I look forward to bringing a bit of Paris to you soon!

Wow, impressive start. It’s great to see you taking advantage of everything. And I think you are doing a good job of keeping us informed of your first few weeks. Thank you for taking the time. With a full semester, I’m sure you think there is lots of time for everything but the time will pass quickly. I’m interested in the Unofficial History of European Construction. Please note any photos or articles you find appealing so we can check them out. Hey, remember your dad and his buddy (me) are experts in American construction (ha ha).
Too, I am keenly interested in anything you take at the International School of Philosophy. Two of my favorite philosophers are the Frenchmen Michel Foucault and Jacques Derrida. (I think Derrida even helped establish the International School of Philosophy, if my memory serves me correctly.) So, please continue to keep us posted. Do study hard. Keep up your variety of experiences and above all have fun!
Your pal,
Roddy
